Torfaen County Borough
Council Youth Service offers a number of training courses for youth
workers and staff are encouraged to attend as many courses as possible.
The
Key Skills for Youth Work.
This introductory course is ideal for the person newly appointed. All new
youth workers in Torfaen will be expected to attend this course within a
short time of being appointed.
The

Education or B.A. (Hons) Youth and Community are undertaken on the staff
members own initiative without pay (or with sessional pay at the
discretion of the area development worker).
Optional

In addition to the Key Skills and
Foundation course are optional modules covering Sports Leadership Award,
Craft Courses, Duke of Edinburgh scheme, First Aid, Outdoor Education
topics, Canllaw on-line, Health and Safety and Risk Assessment, Basic
Counselling Skills, Food Hygiene, Violence in the Workplace, Equal
Opportunities, Behaviour Management, Health issues, Outreach/Detached work
