The Key Skills in Youth Work Course: OCN Level 2: |

| The Key skills course is an introduction to youth work, it is an OCN level 2 qualification, and includes 15 hours coursework and 15 hours fieldwork practice, which must take place whilst working with young people. | ||

Element 1. Analysis of personal needs Learning Outcomes The student can: 1. Identify their personal skills |
Assessment Criteria The student has demonstrated the ability to: 1.1 List their personal skills 1.2 Identify their limitations in working with young people 1.3 Describe their knowledge and skills that they could use within a youth club setting. |

Element 2. Management and administration Learning Outcomes. The student can: 2. Demonstrate a knowledge of their centres financial systems. Be able to fill in the appropriate forms. |
Assessment Criteria The student has demonstrated the ability to: 2.1 List the financial systems of their centre; 2.2 Recognise management systems in their centre; 2.3 Be aware of their authorities framework of management; 2.4 Identify their own personal position within their organisation. |

Element 3. Communication and listening. Learning Outcomes. The student can: 3. Engage in conversation with a group or individual young person. Demonstrate methods of active listening. |
Assessment Criteria The student has demonstrated the ability to:
3.1 Identify appropriate methods of communicating
with a group or young person; |

Element 4. Planning/Evaluation and Monitoring Quality statements Learning Outcomes. The student can: 4. Demonstrate the use of an appropriate educational planning model to deliver informal education to young people. Demonstrate an understanding and range of youth work practise. |
Assessment Criteria The student has demonstrated the ability to:

Element 5. Intervention work with Individuals or Groups. Learning Outcomes. The student can: 5. Identify priority groups. Have a basic understanding of group work theory and practice. List various methods of youth work. |
Assessment Criteria The student has demonstrated the ability to: 5.1 Select and work with at least 2 methods of youth work; 5.2 Design and deliver a learning experience; 5.3 Identify the curriculum youth work statement; 5.4 Describe a range of necessary intervention skills. |

Element 6. Secure the Health and Safety of others. Learning Outcomes. The student can: 6. Identify the Health and Safety policy for their centre. Undertake a fire drill. |
Assessment Criteria The student has demonstrated the ability to: 6.1 Establish procedures for the limitations of fire risk; 6.2 Identify and list the Health and Safety policy for their centre; 6.3 Design a written plan for their centres fire procedures. |
