The Saturday Show

The Saturday Show
was a Nationwide Children's Television programme that was broadcast every Saturday morning between 9.00am and 12 noon on BBC1 television.

A group of 26 young people from St Dials, Croesyceiliog and Llantarnam youth centres visited the BBC studios in Shepherds Bush for a live transmission on Saturday 29th September 2001.
The group formed part of the audience and featured in a number of items during the programme including; Dim Sum Win Sum, where a giant fortune cookie hanging from the ceiling has to be broken in order to win the prizes inside, and RISK where a game has to be completed against the clock or a valued possession is shredded by a giant mincing machine. In our case this proved to be the end of a mobile phone!

The young people attending were also able to meet Samantha Mumba, Sum 41, Joe Breeze, Dani Behr and Joe Mace. It really was an unforgettable day, the BBC were excellent and treated us superbly.

Following on the success of this visit the BBC invited us back again on January 26th 2002 when 36 young people from all all Torfaen met Victoria "POSH SPICE" Beckham, Gary Lucy, and featured in Karaoke Kriminals and Risk again - this time though we won both competitions.
Who knows we may be back for a third visit............ Watch this space !
