After the success of the trip to PGL at Boreatton Park in April we decided to book another adventure weekend with PGL, this time travelling to Weymouth in Dorset. The centre is a converted holiday camp with stunning views overlooking Weymouth Bay. It boasted excellent adventure activity facilities which, with the exception of the water based sports, were all very close at hand. .The high ropes course at PGL Weymouth

The best activity by far was the excellently equipped high ropes course, that came complete with Jacob's Ladder, Leap of Faith and a very long and fast zip wire. This course was complemented by a good abseil wall.

The water based sports took place on the sea at Portland, a short road journey away. The canoeing proved to be very popular and included basic instruction and several games. The equipment and instructor was first class.  Other activities included Archery and Quad biking. The archery was great, thanks to Scouse, our instructor, who was brilliant. The quads would have been better if they had been on a bigger course, however this activity proved to be the next favourite one, after the high ropes course.

The only negative thing on the weekend was that our group was the only teenage group on site, the rest of those staying at the centre were primary school children. As our group wanted to stay up late - after the younger children had gone to bed - complaints about noise were received. This occurred due to the fact that the advertised 'CHILL OUT' zone for older young people was poorly equipped, the promised music, video, pool and table tennis table were not present - the only items of equipment in there were three unusable broken table football games. The 'CHILL OUT' zone at Boreatton Park was open until 11.30pm at night and allowed older young people the opportunity to relax in an area away from the younger accommodated groups. However this did not spoil the weekend and we left extremely happy, the programme was excellent, the accommodation was very good, the food, whilst basic, was very good, the activities and instructors were superb and all at a fantastic venue on the outskirts of Weymouth.

The day after arriving home we telephoned PGL head office and placed another weekend booking for October 2005 and made enquiries about a five day course in March 2006. That shows how much we value the services of PGL.
