The club actively supports the youth work curriculum statement and workshops on such topics as drug and alcohol abuse, smoking, babysitting courses etc. are a regular feature of the programme. A workshop was held to promote NO SMOKING DAY that involved over 20 young people. Regular discussions are held on issue based topics particularly those that may be relevant at the time. For example if bullying is an issue in club then a bullying workshop is held.

The club also makes regular visits to such places as Megabowl, Pontypool Dry Ski Slope, Ebbw Vale swimming pool, Paintballing and PGL outdoor centres. Craft items such as scoobie bracelets, embossed cards and fridge magnets are a regular feature of the programme..

LLANTARNAM YOUTH CENTRE - SWIMMING TUESDAYS - 7-7.30PM - - - - FREE - - - Llantarnam is an extremely busy youth centre which is open two night each week. Tuesdays and Thursday between 6.45pm and 8.45pm and has access to certain facilities such as the swimming pool and the sports hall in the nearby leisure centre. The pool is used every Tuesday for the junior age range and activities such as volleyball and kayaking are popular. A swimming for improver OCN is available for those over 14 who wish to gain an accreditation. The sports hall is used for five a side football, badminton, basketball etc. The swimming session every Tuesday now includes the opportunity to learn the basics of canoeing two of the club workers are qualified kayaking coaches. Girls have the opportunity to learn dance techniques under the guidance of two senior members who act as peer mentors to them. They have developed a number of excellent dance routines and even performed live in front of hundreds of people at the Congress Theatre in Cwmbran. Llantarnam Youth Centre is a Ccard assessment and distribution point. The Torfaen Youth Service Duke of Edinburgh Award group meet at Llantarnam Leisure Centre every Friday between 6.30pm and 9.00pm. Telephone 01633 482832 for details.
