The Extending Entitlement project in Torfaen is based around an interactive PowerPoint presentation that is to be delivered to over 1400 young people before September 2007. After initial development the presentation was shown to three groups, the Vulnerable Young Peoples Action Group, a group of youth workers at a training course and a group of young people from the Duke of Edinburgh Open Award Centre. All groups contributed to the final version and suggestions as to wording and answer choices were incorporated into the final version of the presentation. |

.The aim of the presentation to to raise young people's awareness of Extending Entitlement and does so by using a Response handset system whereby young people answer questions by pressing buttons to indicate their choice. The computer gathers all the answers and allows them to be analysed. The Extending Entitlement Project is a project within the Torfaen Young People's Partnership whose seven key aims are related to the ten entitlements. |

Any issues that a particular group of young people may have is identified and follow up workshops on those topics are arranged. The young people taking part in the project are aged between 11 and 25 and to date groups targeted have included pupils from local comprehensive schools, scouts, army, air and sea cadet groups, young mothers groups and gay and lesbian youth groups. The project has raised the awareness of Extending Entitlement and at the same time has highlighted a number of issues that has enabled us to arrange workshops with groups of young people that the Youth Service do not usually encounter, thus promoting greater partnership working. If you require any further information on the Torfaen Extending Entitlement project then please contact either Steve Thomas or Ruth Saunders (01495 758868) who have been seconded to the project from the Youth Service for a period of two years.
