Bruises and Scars

The effects below were created by using professional theatrical make up which is available from a wide variety of sources. If you wish to try this activity yourself make sure you use good quality non-allergenic water based face paints and a derma wax approved product for making the scar tissue with.

Start by forming a small amount of derma wax into a raised blister on the skin, merging it in carefully with a spatula or by smoothing it down with your fingers. Using great care score the wax lightly to form the scar, apply a dark red or black face paint into the scored wax, then apply a  lighter red face paint to mimic blood on top of the dark paint. Finish off by applying a maroon face paint with a sponge around the scar to mimic bruising.
