Throughout the summer months the Junior Canoe Club members normally have the opportunity to participate in a number of river expeditions. These are generally on local waters and in particular on the River Wye on the stretch between Symonds Yat and Monmouth. It is during these river trips that members are able to complete their assessments for the BCU star awards. It is very encouraging and pleasing when young people who start with no kayak skills and no confidence in the water are able to demonstrate how confident and capable they have become. |
