The Junior canoe club is fortunate in being able to use the facilities and equipment at nearby Llandegfedd Reservoir, near Pontypool, during the summer months, as a progression route from the swimming pool environment to river expeditions and trips. The Reservoir, being 1.5 miles long and 1.25 miles wide is an excellent venue for carrying out one star tests and also for two star training sessions. Whilst being a safe area for training purposes the reservoir is ideal for introducing new paddlers to large areas of water where skills can be developed further after initial pool training lessons. |
