October 31st 2004 - Halloween and the Junior Canoe Club canal trip between Pontnewydd and Pontymoile Basin and return, a distance of approx 6 miles. The Autumn colours made a fitting backdrop to the last canoe trip outside for the 2004 season. The members will now train on Sunday evenings throughout the winter months at Fairwater swimming pool, developing their skill levels further in preparation for river trips in the 2005 season which will start in late April. The eleven junior canoeists who turned up for this trip gained their BCU 2 star award, this included those who are undertaking canoeing for their physical recreation section of their Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award programme. |
