The Opening Of The Welsh Assembly

The Opening of the new Assembly for Wales in June 1999 was an historic day for the people of the principality. Following  the official opening of the Assembly the focus of the day was centred on a celebration of Welsh Youth with an open air  event held in the grounds of Cardiff Castle.

This was held in the presence of H.M. The Queen, HRH The Prince Of Wales and HRH The Duke Of Edinburgh.

This all day event focused on all aspects of youth work with continuous live music, radio broadcasts, sporting demonstrations and display by Welsh Youth Work agencies and charities.

Youth club members from all over Wales had the once in a lifetime opportunity of being introduced to members of the Royal family and stars of the showbiz world such as Tom Jones, Shirley Bassey, Max Boyce and Michael Ball.
