Ashley House Senior Youth Club
Tuesdays and Wednesdays 7.00pm - 9.00pm

After quite a long difficult period Ashley House Senior Youth Centre is now beginning to function extremely well again. The difficulties were down to a lack of staff which meant that the youth centre tended to be closed quite frequently.

New staff recruitment in 2006 has resulted in the club opening on a regular basis which has in turn increased membership to the point that the club is now thriving.

We hope to start a youth members forum which will enable them to apply for lottery grants for specific project work to be undertaken in the youth centre. Members have taken responsibility for the running of the tuck shop that shows a nice healthy profit at the end of each month and regularly take part in projects such as sexual health, alcohol and other issue based workshops.

New equipment such as a television, X box and table tennis table has been purchased.

Senior members will also be encouraged to attend the youth service senior member training course in order to gain an OCN accreditation.  A large number of senior members have received one or more Mayors Awards as well.

Quite a few club trips have also been arranged including visits to Big Pit, Ice Skating, Dry Slope Skiing and Ebbw Vale Swimming Pool.
